DOLE launches job fair on Labor Day with The OPF

May 1, 2010– The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) kicked off their annual job fair, JOBS LIVE!, on Labor Day, baring more than 100,000 job opportunities at the SMX Convention Center. As one of this year’s sponsors, The Outlooke Pointe Foundation (OPF) teamed up with DOLE’s Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) in a photo exhibit aimed at strengthening the image of greatness in the Filipino worker.

Running throughout the entire lobby of the SMX were 15 photos (chosen by the ILS), from the Shoot to Move the Nation: Dignity of the Filipino Worker coffee table book launched by The OPF last December 2009. DOLE’s ILS and Information and Publication Service (IPS) also displayed 15 photos from their own collection.

Present at the ribbon cutting of the exhibit were DOLE secretary Marianito D. Roque, OPF corporate secretary Atty. Francis Cruz, OPF executive director Carissa De Jesus-Driz and OPF program manager Joey Manalo.

JOBS LIVE! underscores the crucial role of the workers in the national efforts to achieve development and an opportunity to pay tribute to the Filipino workers,” DOLE secretary Roque said in a statement.

DOLE’s theme for their JOBS LIVE! job fair was “Manggagawang Pilipino, Kaagapay sa Pagbabago” (Filipino Worker, Agent for Change). And it may have been providence that DOLE took notice of The OPF’s advocacy on the Dignity of the Filipino Worker, having led to a partnership in the production of a photo exhibit: each photo showcased at the SMX on that day aimed to bring out from each viewer, a patriotic vision and renewed passion for the country with the Filipino worker as its catalyst.
