Resetting the Clock
856G Gallery presents Resetting the Clock, an iteration of the 2018 exhibition at the Cultural Center of the Philippines under the venue grants program. It features photo-based works by Hannah Aaron, Cindy Aquino, Zeus Bascon, Gino Javier, Jazel Kristin, Jippy Pascua, Charles Salazar, Jhemuel Salvador, Gerome Soriano, Marco Ugoy, Sidney Valdez, and Tanya Villanueva, which will open on July 5, 2019, Friday, 6pm at 856G Gallery’s main space. The show will run until July 27, 2019.
Curated by Con Cabrera, Resetting the Clock presents works that interpret language as a varied form of communication influenced by cultural, societal, and familial upbringing. This collection serves as interlocutor of signs of the new influences in the constant shifting of language and/or viewing of an image, such as emergent subcultures, gender expansion topographies or class-consciousness. Though the restaging in Cebu will showcase a smaller-scale exhibition, new conversations between the images are anticipated to create a different set of interconnections in photography’s new cycle and language.
An artist talk with Jippy Pascua, Gerome Soriano, Tanya Villanueva, and Zeus Bascon is scheduled on July 5 at 3pm through the support from Outlooke Pointe Foundation. A curator-led walkthrough will follow the talk. This exhibition is made possible by HP Philippines and the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
