The Outlooke Pointe Foundation (OPF) held its 4th Artist Summit on June 1-2, 2012 at the Sta. Monica Beach Resort, Dumaguete City. This was OPF’s first effort in Dumaguete and in doing so a continuation of the OPF Artist Summit initiative while also contributing to a more responsible tourism in the Visayas, by fostering responsiveness to Dumaguete’s local art community and in enriching the personal experience of each visitor. Resource speakers included writer and filmmaker Ian Casocot, art historian Jutsze Pamante, artist and sculptor Karl Aguila and ceramic artist Takeshi Muroyama. Each shared their own personal views on why they chose Dumaguete to live and practice their craft.
There were 7 chosen delegates for this artist summit consisting of top art students from Silliman and Foundation Universities: Stephen Abanto, Edlyn Abrio, George Aranas, Iris Armogenia, Adonis Catacutan, Argo Patigas, Onna Quizo.
Each of the 7 resident artists is expected to create an artwork from the discussions and exchanges of the workshop and artworks to be finished by the end of June, 2012. These artworks will then be under the trust of The OPF and will be scheduled for a public exhibition to foster encouragement of the local art and tourism scene in Dumaguete.
